Meet the Chef

Hello, I'm Chef Dawn!

Let me tell you a little about myself.... I come to the table with 15+ years in the food industry, from baker to chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, and everything in between.

I began my culinary journey in Baltimore, Maryland, where I had the privilege of launching A Little Place Called Siam (a fine dining Thai restaurant in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor) – from its opening to its five-star status in Baltimore newspapers and magazines. I learned the restaurant business from a French Culinary Institute graduate and James Beard Award winning Master Chef and restaurateur.

In 1996, I returned to New York and began working as a publicist for BMG/RCA Records. During this same time, I began catering and baking for artists, executives and coworkers. I liked it so much that I decided to start a catering business - Dawn’s Dish! 

What began as a small operation out of my home in upstate New York eventually grew into a critically acclaimed storefront cafe, and, after several years of working 80 hours per week doing what I loved, I decided to sell the cafe and move on. I made the decision with no regret because of the great lessons I learned along the way. And after that, I headed to work as a coordinator to the Culinary Institute of America, the Mecca of Food.
